What Is Dirty Sock Syndrome?
Dirty sock syndrome is when moisture, dust, and dirt accumulate on your AC unit’s evaporator coil, inviting microbial organisms, bacteria, and mold. The AC then distributes a foul, musty, moldy odor throughout the living or occupied space. This is more of an annoyance than a danger, but those with severe allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions are more affected.
