In February 2020, a tornado touched down in a neighborhood just minutes away from the Teachers’ Pets day care center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
There was just enough time for day care owner Sherri Wellman to take life-saving actions, which ultimately kept the children out of harm’s way. However, the storm severely damaged the day care facility, requiring massive repairs over several months.
Community members and local businesses pulled together to help the day care get back on its feet.
This included Airworks, a local heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) services provider. The owner of Airworks, Rick Latino, wanted to ensure the children and staff were breathing clean, healthy indoor air when the day care reopened. Airworks donated and installed Phenomenal Aire cold plasma generator technology in the day care’s HVAC system.
